# Turn a tweet into a TikTok video

TikTok re-encodes every upload hard, and small text is the first casualty. The defence is to give the encoder clean, high-contrast, generously sized type to begin with — which is what rebuilding the card at full resolution does, and what a phone screenshot dragged into an editor cannot.

## How it works

1. Paste the link to the post.
1. Keep the 9:16 canvas and the near-black background.
1. Set the quality to max so TikTok's re-encode has room to work with.
1. Press Render video, then download the MP4.

This page uses a solid dark background rather than a gradient, because banding in a smooth gradient is exactly the artefact TikTok's compression exaggerates. The motion preset is a slow push, which compresses better than fast movement.


## Questions

### Why does my text look blurry after uploading to TikTok?

TikTok's re-encode discards fine detail. Exporting at maximum quality on a flat background, as this page does, gives it much less to destroy.

### Should I use a gradient background for TikTok?

Prefer a flat colour. Smooth gradients are where compression banding shows up most clearly.

### What length works best on TikTok?

Long enough to read the tweet twice — around six seconds for a short post. Very short clips loop before anyone finishes reading.
